III Week of Rural Sculpture in Marble OBJECTIVES
· The spreading of marble and its different expressions from a cultural and touristic perspective in the region society.
· An attractive and innovating event for the inhabitants and possible visitors of the area.
· The updated recovery of a handmade trade, becoming a dying craft.
· The promotion of young artists with the illusion of showing their know-how.
· The possibility of acquiring a sculpture work for possible collectors.
· A fantastic chance to achieve objectives of interest for different social, cultural and political entities of the area of the Alto Almanzora.

PROGRAM
The competition will be held
from the 12th to the 17th of April.
Monday 12th : Reception of
participants and monitors (until 15:00)
18:00: Opening.
Tuesday 13th : Beginning of works.
Wednesday 14th : Visit to the
Andalusian School of Marble and tour
around the region in the
afternoon.
Thursday 15th : In the afternoon there will be activities for the participants
organized by the Town Hall of Purchena.
Friday 16th : Last working day, participants will work until 18:00.
Speech given by María Luisa Tárraga Baldó, PhD in Art History of the Superior
Centre of Scientific Investigations.
18:00 - 20:00: Popular voting, activities organized by the Town Hall of
Purchena and deliberation of the judge.
Saturday 17th : Exhibition of the participant works, prize giving, auction
of the non-prized works and closing ceremony.PARTICIPATION NORMS
People under 30 years old, enrolled in European Art, Sculpture or Stone craft schools will be able to participate.
A maximum of two participants can be registered per school.
The participants must present their inscription before the 12th of March 2010, which will be the last day for the reception of the already mentioned inscriptions. In such registration it will be shown the name and surname of the participant and the school he/she belongs to, together with a sketch of his/her work in paper or in digital medium. Each participant will be given a marble block of approximately 40x20x20 cm.
The participants must also bring their individual protection elements, especially boots and glasses, in addition to their individual tool (not compressed air). It will not be necessary to bring the electric machinery, which will be provided by the Andalusian School of Marble.. The participants will be able to use the electric machinery in three sessions of one hour each.
For the accommodation, the participants must bring a sleeping bag and a thermal air bed.
The Andalusian School of Marble will run with the travelling expenses during the Week of Rural Sculpture, receiving each participant a maximum of 150 €.
PRIZES
It is established 2000 € for the first prize.
The second prize will be awarded with 1200 €.
The third prize will be awarded with 1000 €.
The fourth prize, given by popular voting, will be awarded with 600 €.
The prize awarded by the popular jury will be given to the work with the highest number of votes,
always that it does not coincide with the prizes given by the jury.
The jury will be established by the organization.
